So what does Search Engine Marketing really mean?
SEM, Search Engine Marketing, simply refers to how well or how "high up" your site ranks in search engine listings such as Google when someone enters certain keywords or phrases.
If you had a site selling gumboots, for example, you would want to rank as high up as possible every time a user searched for "gumboots," "work boots," or "farming boots". You wouldn't be concerned about ranking high for words such as "aeroplane" or "Helen Clark".
Ideally, you want your website to be on the first page of Google and as many other prominent search engines as possible for your relevant keywords. This way, the potential local customers using Google to search for information will be presented with your site right away.'
Search Engine Marketing has grown to include Social Marketing, which encompasses Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Not to mention things like Google Places and Adwords. (If you don't understand what I'm saying here, make sure you start learning!)

Social Explosion Package
